Flexible packaging: film, laminates and pouches
The largest and most export-oriented segment. Turkish converters run rotogravure and flexo lines producing printed and unprinted film, multi-layer laminates, stand-up pouches with or without zippers, spouted pouches, retort structures, vacuum bags, shrink and stretch film. Typical structures are PET/PE, BOPP/CPP, PET/ALU/PE for barrier applications, and increasingly mono-material PE or PP for recyclability. Minimum order quantities are usually expressed in kilograms of film rather than units: a realistic starting point for a printed laminate is 500-1,000 kg per design, which for a mid-sized pouch translates into roughly 30,000-80,000 pieces. Cylinder or plate costs are charged once and reused on repeat orders, so unit economics improve sharply from the second run onward. If you are testing a market, ask whether the converter will run a digital-print trial: several Turkish houses now offer short digital runs specifically so buyers can validate artwork before committing to gravure cylinders.
