The product landscape spans five commercial families. Fabric three-seaters and 3+3+1 living sets are the volume core, built on kiln-dried beech frames with webbing or zigzag suspension and 28-35 kg density seat foams at mid grade. Corner and modular groups are the growth family, from compact L-shapes to seven-seat U-configurations with storage chaises. Sofa beds carry Turkey's mechanism tradition, with click-clack and pull-out systems built domestically. Recliners run manual at economy and motorised upward, with mechanism origin the warranty question worth asking. And the classic tier, chesterfields and carved frames from the same district, prices by handwork rather than by metre.
Specification is where quotes diverge threefold on the same silhouette. The levers: frame timber and joinery, kiln-dried hardwood with glued-and-screwed corner blocks against softwood staples; suspension type; foam density and the CMHR upgrade for contract work; and fabric, which takes 25-40 percent of FOB and moves the price thirty percent alone when an imported mill is nominated over Turkish weavers. Fire compliance follows the destination stack covered in our fire guide: EN 1021 for the EU, Crib 5 for UK and hotel programs, TB 117-2013 with the SB 1019 label for the USA, evidenced per production batch rather than per model.
Logistics decide the landed comparison. Assembled three-seaters cube out at about 29 per 40HQ; detachable arms and vacuum-packed cushions lift that to about 40, a 25-47 percent volume saving that most Inegol factories will engineer on request but do not catalogue, so the buyer must ask. Mixed containers are standard practice, 8-15 SKUs per 40HQ before surcharges, letting a first order test sofas alongside bedroom and dining lines. Lead times run 25-40 days on catalogue fabric, plus dye-lot time on custom; payment follows the market norm of 30 percent deposit with the balance on passed pre-shipment inspection.
Why seating is the growing half
Casegoods exports have been flat while seating grew 3.2 percent in 2025 and mattresses 5.2: the labour-intensive, style-driven categories are where Turkish factories out-compete, because upholstery quality travels badly from low-wage automation and Inegol's craft density is hard to replicate.
The three questions that qualify a sofa factory
Frame spec in writing, kiln-dried hardwood and corner blocks named; batch fire evidence for your destination, not a model certificate; and detachable-arm packing engineering. Factories that answer all three fast are export-grade; the rest are showroom suppliers.
Honest China comparison
At matched specification Turkey wins landed cost to Europe, the Gulf and Africa on 3-18 day freight, mixed containers and 20-set minimums; China wins 500-plus single-SKU runs on price. Turkey is the assortment-and-speed origin, and pretending otherwise in either direction is sales talk.
