The most important textile certifications to request from Turkish manufacturers are OEKO-TEX (product safety), GOTS and GRS (organic and recycled), and BSCI or Sedex/SMETA (social compliance). Asking for the right documents up front protects your brand and speeds due diligence.
Product-safety certifications
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies that a textile has been tested for harmful substances. It is essential for skin-contact products and especially for babywear and children's apparel (Product Class I). Most reputable Turkish factories can provide it.
Sustainability certifications
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) covers organic fibre content and environmental/social criteria for organic lines. GRS (Global Recycled Standard) verifies recycled-material content — increasingly requested for rPET activewear and recycled-cotton programs.
Social-compliance certifications
BSCI (amfori) and Sedex/SMETA audits assess labour conditions, health and safety, and ethical practices. Many EU and UK retailers require one of these before onboarding a supplier.
Quality management
ISO 9001 indicates a documented quality-management system. For safety workwear, look for product standards such as EN ISO 20471 (high-visibility) and EN ISO 11612 (heat and flame).
How to verify certifications
Ask for certificate numbers and validity dates, and confirm them on the issuing body's public database. On FromTurk, supplier licences and certifications are checked before listing — but always request current documents for your specific order. Submit a free RFQ and specify the certifications you require.
